Numerical simulation of the effects of bathymetry on underwater sound propagation using three-dimensional parabolic models

Thumbnail
Abstract
Two different three-dimensional parabolic equation (PE) methods are

presented. These methods are used to show the importance of three-dimensional effects for some examples and different frequencies and the results from the two methods are compared with each other in order to show that the two very different PE approaches give similar results.

The methods of this report provide an accurate and relatively efficient means of computing three-dimensional propagation loss which will form the basis of future improvements.
