High frequency acoustic propagation in coastal waters
Abstract
High Frequency Acoustic Propagation experiments were performed with bottom-mounted sources and receivers at different coastal sites. A measurement technique has been developed and propagation loss data have been taken using sources covering the 29-326 kHz frequency range out to 400 ml distance High-resolutron monitoring of relevant envrronmenral parameters took place at the trme of the acoustic measurements. In the present paper the new measurement technique is described and examples of acoustic/environmental data are presented. Predictions from SACLANTCEN propagatron models developed for lower frequency applications are used for comparison wrth the measurements.
